Terms of Service for Polling Rate Test

The rules for using the pollingratetest.wiki website and its browser-based mouse diagnostic tool.

Effective Date: September 5, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of pollingratetest.wiki and the Polling Rate Test. By visiting the site or using the tool, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

1. Service description

Polling Rate Test provides a browser-based utility and explanatory content for estimating how frequently a connected mouse delivers movement events to the active browser. The ordinary tool uses client-side JavaScript and does not require an account, download, movement upload, or server-side measurement job.

The site may add, change, pause, or remove features as it evolves. A result is an estimate based on browser-delivered events and test conditions, not a direct reading of the mouse's internal USB or wireless report configuration.

2. Your inputs and decisions

You are responsible for connecting an appropriate device, choosing suitable test conditions, and deciding how to use the result. A desktop mouse is the intended input; touch events, a stationary pointer, browser extensions, and unusual driver behavior may not provide a useful estimate.

You are also responsible for checking device software, firmware, drivers, connection quality, operating-system behavior, and any hardware-level diagnostic method before making a purchase, support, warranty, or performance decision.

3. Estimates and limitations

  • The displayed Hz value is a browser estimate of delivered pointer-event timing and is not a guaranteed hardware report rate.
  • Event coalescing, scheduling, CPU load, background applications, display behavior, browser support, wireless conditions, and movement patterns can change the result.
  • A higher polling rate does not automatically improve comfort, latency, game performance, battery life, or system load for every user.
  • A result from this page does not replace a vendor diagnostic, USB protocol measurement, driver report, game-engine test, or professional hardware evaluation.
  • Displayed values are rounded for readability and should be compared as a repeatable range rather than a single exact number.

4. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the site to process or distribute unlawful, infringing, harmful, or deceptive content.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, attack, scrape aggressively, or interfere with the site or other visitors.
  • Do not inject malicious scripts, bypass security controls, or test the site in a way that harms its availability.
  • Do not misrepresent Polling Rate Test as affiliated with a mouse manufacturer, browser vendor, operating-system provider, game studio, or analytics service.
  • Do not rely on the tool as legal, medical, financial, warranty, or guaranteed performance advice.

5. Availability and changes

We may update, pause, or remove the test, explanatory content, scripts, browser support, or calculation behavior at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, compatibility with every browser or device, or permanent access to any result shown in a temporary page session.

A future update may change supported pointer events, filtering rules, duration options, formatting, interface states, or privacy disclosures. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms for future use.

6. Intellectual property

The original Polling Rate Test site text, layout, interface organization, branding, and code are owned by Polling Rate Test or its licensors unless a different source is identified. You may use the public tool for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, resell, rebrand, or redistribute substantial portions of the site without permission.

Third-party names, browser documentation, device brands, and external links remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on this site does not imply sponsorship or endorsement.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The site and tool are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, non-infringement, and suitability for a specific hardware or gaming decision.

To the extent permitted by law, Polling Rate Test is not liable for losses, device changes, support decisions, purchases, missed performance expectations, or other consequences arising from reliance on a browser-estimated result. You should use an appropriate hardware or vendor diagnostic when the decision matters.

8. Privacy

Your use of the site is also covered by the Privacy Policy. The core test is designed to calculate timing in the browser and does not need to upload raw mouse movement. The Privacy Policy explains technical data, cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, Google products, advertising, and support communications.

9. Contact
